How to Host an Adult Clothing Swap

Ladies Night!

By Michelle O'Brien September 21, 2019
Welcome to the wonderful world of an Adult Clothing Swap.  Do you ever feel like you need to clean out your closet to make room for new stuff that you probably shouldn't be purchasing?  Perhaps you just have way too much stuff and are in the mood for some de-cluttering and organization.  Or maybe you want an excuse to get together with your friends for a night away from the everyday routine.  Whatever the case may be, these parties are incredibly fun and super easy to throw.

The Invitation:
Pick a date and send out an invite to a group of fun friends.  Indicate on the invitation that you will be hosting a Clothing Swap.  Instruct all your guests to bring any items they no longer want.  This can extend beyond clothes to jewelry, shoes, scarves, purses, bags, hats etc.  The possibilities are endless.

The Display:
Find a place in your house that would be appropriate to display a lot of clothes.  You can use couches, chairs, folding tables etc.  Make sure you have access to a mirror.  Your friends are going to want to try stuff on.  A long standing mirror that can easily be moved would be a great option to have in the swapping area.

The Swap
Once all your friends have arrived and everything is displayed, get to swapping!  Allow all of the attendees to browse as they wish.  One of the best parts is watching your old stuff get snatched up and brought back to life by someone else.  What happens if you find something that someone else likes as well?  You can go about this situation a couple of different way.  Maybe you want to decide and announce that whoever finds it first, gets to keep it.  OR If you want to jazz things up a bit you can create what we call a "fight pile."  This might not be everyone's cup of tea be but my friends and I get a huge kick out of it.  To start, If you find something you like and want to take home, ask your friends if anyone else has any interest in the item you are eyeballing.  If more than one person wants the same item you set it aside in the "fight pile" until the end of the swap.

"The Fight Pile"
Here's where things get fun!  If by the end of the swap, the same two (or more) people still want the same item then they must compete for it.  This is totally not a requirement of a clothing swap but it's sure to result in a lot of fun and laughter!  It's always my favorite part of the swap.  Here's how it works.  The person who originally brought the article of clothing being fought over must create a challenge.  The challenges can range in things as small as drawing out of a hat or as silly as a karaoke contest.  The possibilities are endless.  Whoever wins the challenge gets to take the item home!  Here are a bunch of challenge ideas to get you started.

~Rock, Paper, Scissors
~Who can stand on one foot the longest
~Arm wrestling challenge

~What number am I thinking of
~Who can do the most squats contest
~Who can write down the most states in 60 seconds
~Who can do the most sit-ups
~Who puts on the best karaoke performance
~Who can dress in the outfit the fastest
~Who can eat the cookie the fastest (my personal favorite) (I’m currently undefeated)

I think you get the idea.  Get creative and have fun!!

These are always my favorite kinds of nights!  Not only do you get some great one on one time with some friends but you walk away with a new wardrobe!
