Description

Saturday, October 31st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Town of Goffstown is announcing Trick-or-Treating is currently planned for Saturday, October 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Town of Goffstown.

The Town wants to promote a safe Halloween for everyone with the following safety tips. For Trick-of-Treating:

• Adults should accompany young children while they are out.

• Walk on sidewalks, not the street. Use crosswalks when crossing the street.

• Always travel in familiar, well-lit areas and stay in groups.

• After dark, carry a flashlight or glow stick to increase visibility.

• Phones down, heads up. Be aware of your surroundings.

For Motorists:

• Drive slowly and stay alert.

• Watch for children walking across the street or at intersections.

• Enter and exit driveways slowly, keep eyes out for children.

• After dark, keep eyes out for trick-or-treaters in dark clothing.

• New or inexperienced drivers should avoid driving after dark on Halloween.

To reduce the risks of COVID-19 spread: • Stay home if you are not feeling well, or if you have been in close contact with someone who is sick with COVID-19 or who has symptoms of COVID-19. • Wear a cloth mask over your nose and mouth when trick-or-treating or when handing out treats. โˆ™ The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) advised that a costume mask (such as for Halloween) is not a substitute for a cloth mask. โˆ™ A costume mask should not be used unless it is made of two or more layers of breathable fabric that covers the mouth and nose and doesn’t leave gaps around the face. โˆ™ Do not wear a costume mask over a protective cloth mask because it can be dangerous if the costume mask makes it hard to breathe. Instead, consider using a Halloween-themed cloth mask. • Avoid confined spaces and large gatherings or parties. Traditional activities like haunted houses where people from different households may be crowded together and screaming are discouraged because they are considered Higher Risk Activities by the CDC. • Find ways to trick-or-treat while staying at least 6 feet away from others, including when handing out and accepting treats. Maintain distance of 6 feet between groups when approaching houses. • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol). As a reminder, participating in trick-or-treating is completely optional. The Town of Goffstown is encouraging individuals to find safe ways to celebrate Halloween and hand out treats. Those who are at greatest risk of severe illness are encouraged to avoid high risk activities. For more information on safe ways to celebrate Halloween, review recommendations from the CDC and the State of New Hampshire. These outlined recommendations are subject to change, based on rates of COVID-19 in Goffstown in late October.
