Description
The future of Amherst's Rail Trail is on the March 11th ballot. The Amherst Land Trust is hosting an information session to explain Article 35, and to answer your questions about the rail trail project.

Amherst has been awarded $2.6M in grant funding from the state, to build key sections of our town's rail trail. The grant covers 80% of the cost of these sections, but the town must raise 20% in matching funds. Article 35 raises these funds over five years.
If Article 35 passes, we can build the two sections for $0.20 on the dollar. If it fails, we lose the $2.6M in grant funds, and our ability to secure future grants is imperiled. Because this is a multi-year financing article, it requires a 60% supermajority to pass.
This outstanding funding opportunity can help Amherst create safe, accessible trails that will connect neighborhoods across town with schools, parks, and community landmarks.
